RADZANÓW

A village on the Wkra river, at the mouth of the Mławka river. The seat of the commune office. Mentioned in the 14th century. The family nest of the Radzanowski family of the Prawdzie coat of arms.

W 1400 r. city ​​location. W XV i XVI w. development thanks to the production of cloth highly valued in the North. Mazovia and Prussia. The site of battles during the January Uprising. 21 brand 1863 r. lost battle of insurgent units under the command of Zygmunt Padlewski with the tsarist unit of Major. Zhevakhov. The battle began near Wróblewo. After the collapse of the defense, the insurgents withdrew through Wkra to Radzanów, from where they were quickly pushed towards Siemiątków-Rogala. 17 July 1863 r. there was a clash between the insurgent unit and the tsarist unit of several dozen soldiers. W 1869 r. there was a loss of city rights.

The urban layout with a rectangular market square in the middle has been preserved. Neo-baroque parish church. pw. st. Francis of Assisi, built in the years 1926-32 wg proj. Stefan Szyller, brick and plastered. Single-bay, with a transept and a presbytery narrower than the nave. In the main altar, it comes from a burnt down in the 19th century. church in Zgliczyn a Flemish 17th-century painting of the Mother of God with Child., repainted in the 20th century. The positioning of the characters in the painting is rarely used – The Child is standing on the table next to the Virgin Mary. The painting is decorated with a 17th-century dress and numerous votive offerings, which proves his centuries of worship. Synagogue built in 1875-1904, at the market – now a library. Remains of brick foundations of the disappearance of the Radzanów family mentioned in 1543 r.
