The main educational center, Warsaw is the scientific and cultural center of the described region. Voivodship cities are also important centers: Plock, Ciechanów and Ostrołęka, and also Pułtusk. There are headquarters of universities, also branches of universities from other academic centers. The largest number of state and private universities is in Warsaw, the largest private university in Poland is located in Pułtusk.

Scientific institutions are located mainly in academic centers. Apart from them, they function in localities, in which universities have their research facilities, as well as in the Kampinos National Park and in landscape parks. Scientific institutions have regional societies operating in practically every major city.

Among museums, the National Museum in Warsaw stands out with the enormity of its collections. Historic interiors and collections show the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Museum – Łazienki Królewskie and the Wilanów Museum. There are several dozen other museums in the described area. They stand out among historical museums: Museum of the Polish Army in Warsaw, Historical Museum of the Capital City of. of Warsaw, Museum of Struggle and Martyrdom in Treblinka, Museum of Independence in Warsaw, Museum of the Sochaczew Region and the Battlefield on Bzura in Sochaczew, The Juszkiewicz Museum in Mława. Among the biographical museums, the most popular are: Museum – Manor house F. Chopin in Żelazowa Wola and the Museum of Romanticism in Opinogóra. Museums are also worth attention: Positivism in Gołotczyzna, Nałkowski in Wołomin, J. Iwaszkiewicz in Stawisko. They occupy an important place: Museum of Literature in Warsaw and the Masovian Museum in Płock. They have interesting collections: Diocesan Museum in Płock, District Museum in Ciechanów, District Museum in Ostrołęka. They deserve attention: Museum of Ancient Metallurgy in Pruszków, Mission Museum in Czerwińsk, Museum of Zawkrzeńska Region in Mława, Museum of the Small Town in Bieżuń, Community Museum of Firefighting in Lidzbark, The Automotive Museum in Otrębusy and the Kampinos Forest Museum in Granica. Warsaw and Płock are the seats of professional theaters. Amateur theaters operate, among others. in Otwock and Bronisze.
