Royal Route – monuments

Hotel “European”, once the first modern hotel in Warsaw, was created in the years 1855-1859 i 1876-1877, designed by Henryk Marconi, Marceli Berendt and Leandro Marconi). Demolished in 1944 year, was rebuilt by architect Bohdan Pniewski for the purpose of the Military Academy. The functions of the hotel were only restored to him after 1962 year.

Church of the Care of St. Joseph (business cards) is one of the most beautiful temples in Warsaw. Designed in 1727 years by Charles Bay, was implemented in 1728-1733 i 1754-1763 under the direction of Efraim Szroeger. Sculptures, stucco, pulpit and main altar of the project E. Szroeger, made the workshop of Jan Jerzy Plersch. On the premises of the monastery with baroque buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries, there is a wooden calvary (from the first half of the 18th century). In front of the church of St. 1986 a monument to Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński was erected, by Andrzej Renes.

University of Warsaw. Józef Piłsudski was created in 1816 year. Behind the neo-baroque gate (established in the years 1909-1910 designed by Stefan Szyller with sculptures by Zygmunt Langman), the Neo-Renaissance University Library draws attention (built in the years 1891-1894 according to the design of S.. Szyller and Antoni Jabłoński-Jasieńczyk). Its finial is adorned with the Apotheosis of Knowledge and Science sculpted by Hipolit Marczewski. The Kazimierzowski Palace is situated at the back of the library (Chancellor) – partial reconstruction, destroyed in the years 1939- 1944 baroque palace from the 17th-18th centuries. The university complex also includes the reconstructed Uruski-Czetwertyński Palace (the original one was built between 1844-1847 based on a design by Andrzej Gołoński) and the Tyszkiewicz-Potocki Palace with sculptures of atlants from 1787 by Andre Le Bruno and Giacomo Contieri.

W Czapski palace mieści się dziś Academy of Fine Arts. From an 18th-century building, burnt in 1944 year, today only the facade from the years is original 1752-1765, to which in years 1948-1951 Stanisław Brukalski added a pseudo-historic body and wings adapted to the artistic needs of the school. In the left outbuilding there is the so-called. Chopin's apartment – reconstruction by v 1956 year by Barbara Brukalska according to drawing by A.. Kolberg with 1826 year. In the courtyard there is a statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni: A 20th-century copy of a sculpture by Andrea Verocchia z 1488 year, which was set in 1947 year as a gift from the city of Szczecin to Warsaw.
