The National Philharmonic operates in the city, ok. 30 theaters, including some with several scenes (National, Common, Athenaeum), numerous art galleries and cinemas. There are numerous international cultural events (The International Piano Competition. F. Chopin, Contemporary Music Festival "Warsaw Autumn", Jazz Jamboree i in.). Many significant publishing houses have their seats (School and Pedagogical Publishers, Polish Scientific Publishers PWN, Polskie Przedsiębiorstwo Wydawnictw Kartograficznych et al.). Warsaw is the largest television center in the country and the seat of several television broadcasters (Polish Television, Polsat, THE T.V, NTV) and radio (m.in. Polish Radio, Radio Turn, Radio Wawa, Radio Color, Eska radio).

The city is an important communication center. Many international roads cross here, railway routes, there is an international airport in Okęcie. The main domestic telephone operators have their headquarters in the city. Nearby waiting for tourists 60 hotels and guesthouses with approx. 14 000 seats (some of them belong to renowned global hotel chains). Over 1200 guides. There are numerous stadiums to practice sports, swimming pools, tennis courts, ice rinks, high-speed track on ice, equestrian centers, skate parks, as well as bike paths. Sports emotions can also be provided by the horse racing track in Służewiec. Warsaw's Old and New Towns are inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. The city's coat of arms was used from the 14th century. there is a mermaid. The current coat of arms is: on a red background there is a figure of a woman with a fish tail covered with scales, presented in natural colors, facing right, with his head in profile, with a golden sword placed above his head, in the right hand and a golden shield in the left hand. A golden royal crown is placed above the traditional coat of arms. The coat of arms in its present shape was designed in the interwar period by S.. Quantum and approved first in 1938 r., after the war, it was replaced with other patterns, and again in 1990 r. The most famous image of the Mermaid – symbol of the city, which we can see in Warsaw, there is a statue of hers situated on the left bank of the Vistula River in the vicinity of the Syrena Bridge.
